NARFE was founded in 1921 with the mission of protecting the earned rights and benefits of America’s active and retired federal workers. The largest federal employee/ retiree organization, NARFE represents the retirement interests of nearly 5 million current and future federal annuitants, spouses, and survivors.
NARFE is an advocate for both active and retired federal employees before Congress and the White House. Our mission is to safeguard and enhance federal employee health benefits, retirement benefits, and pay issues for active federal employees and annuitants. Members enjoy a voice on Capitol Hill, advanced notice of legislative changes to your federal benefits, guidance to help you make the best pre- and post-retirement choices , an award-winning monthly magazine and exclusive Web site access.
NARFE membership is open to civilians who are currently receiving, or will be eligible to receive, an annuity or survivor annuity from the federal retirement programs of any agency of the U.S. government or the District of Columbia. All active federal employees and retirees are encouraged to join!
When you join NARFE, you will be assigned to a chapter closest to your area of residence. You may transfer to a different chapter at any time. The South Jersey Shore Chapter does not charge additional dues and includes the FAA's Wm. J. Hughes Technical Center Region (NAFEC) and members of the former Ocean City Chapter 1468. The South Jersey Shore Chapter distributes a monthly newsletter to members, hosts a monthly luncheon and contributes to NARFE programs such as the Alzheimer's, Scholarship, and Disaster Relief Funds.
